The Book’s Story

Steve Burt has been telling stories almost forever, so it was only natural that eventually he began writing them down. Before long, was seeing them published in magazines and newspapers around the New England area, and beyond.

He took to reading his stories aloud, in churches, libraries and for other gatherings, and people started asking if he didn't have some of those stories all in one place—you know, like in a book.

So as the 20th century ended, Steve created a manuscript and sent it off to a printer to get some books for when folks asked. No one really knew about the first delivery to his home, but somehow a local librarian got wind of it and convinced Steve to put a few copies in a local bookstore and in the hospital gift shop.

Between those two small retail outlets and what people bought from Steve at his readings, the first printing sold out in 40 days and 40 nights. A second emergency printing sold out twice as fast. People just couldn't seem to get enough of Steve's stories or his books. They were buying books by the dozens. Finally Steve decided to devote full time to writing and getting his stories out to the world. That has been our great good luck.
